An unforgettable location and high levels of comfort
Situated on Japan’s most northerly island of Hokkaido, our Otaru Hotel of HOTEL NORD OTARU is located on the idyllic Ishikari Bay.
For travelers looking to visit Hokkaido, the area features many of the highlights of the island, including the mountains and ski resorts that serve as key Hokkaido attractions.
Our hotel is best reached by rapid train from Shin-Chitose Airport. We’re located just 7 minutes from Otaru Station. Our property itself sits on one of the many Otaru Canals that date back to the area’s time as an historical fishing port. Much of the old architecture remains, repurposed into modern restaurants and shops.
With a marble front, the HOTEL NORD OTARU is an elegant establishment right in the heart of the historic Otaru town. Spacious rooms are available in Twin and Double with Canal View options featuring beautiful views over the water. Large traditional Japanese rooms for families as well as an Accessible Twin room cater to your additional needs and preferences. Don’t hesitate to ask our helpful staff for any advice or assistance during your stay.
Restaurant Padella serves fresh cuisine at breakfast and lunch and the rooftop bar, Club Nord, has wonderful views of Ishikari Bay and a historical cityscape of Otaru. Restaurants are plentiful in this picturesque city and no trip to Otaru would be complete without sampling the famously fresh sushi. A lesser known claim to fame is Hokkaido’s growing prominence as a wine region and, for spirits, a famous whiskey distillery can be found in nearby Yoichi, which is 30 minutes’ train ride from Otaru.
During the winter months, the nearby Hokkaido skiing hotspots are among the island’s most popular destination. The Shakotan Peninsula is also nearby, for stunning ocean views whatever the season. If you join us during the summer months, the area is also renowned for the quality of its beer – the perfect treat on a hot day.
With an unforgettable location and high levels of comfort, HOTEL NORD OTARU is your perfect option for a memorable Hokkaido adventure.
